AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, plays as a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) which is the highest level of women's soccer in United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 alongside Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. After graduating in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was selected as the top pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club , and also helped the team win the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time was the youngest athlete in the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which the team finished as runner-up. In the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final against Canada. The 2012 season ended with 28 goals and 21 assists, joining Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and record 20 assists within the same calendar year , becoming the sixth youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year Morgan was also selected as a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments in addition to winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
