Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Kotero is famous for her role as co-star in the 1984 film by Prince Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6. Her name was among the female artists to benefit from Prince's association in the late 1980s. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. The career she pursued began by modeling in the 1970s. She also performed on CHiPS. In 1984 she landed her role as the main female character in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer made a change to her name) and became Vanity in the female duo Vanity 6 which performed on the screen under the title Apollonia 6. They had a minor record with Sex Shoter but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she achieved more of an impact on charts. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince following their falling apart over her future work. Through the years that followed Kotero appeared in numerous smaller film projects. (She reportedly declined to be a part of her role in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon.) It was then landed a part on the evening show Falcon Crest between 1985-1986. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, however it was a mediocre compilation of music from R&B and dancing that did not catch the attention of the general public. The album soon vanished from view. The singer continued to work in the acting world (even even if she was small amount of a mystery) in the years following performing in small television roles and short films. A workout video also came out. Apollonia recorded a Spanish/English Album named Stay With Me in 1997.
